An historic and iconic silk-lined performance venue on the hillside above Whitehaven; a programme of taking arts to the community with Rosehill On The Road; promoting participation in the performing arts via Rosehill Taking Part; The Green Room restaurant serving fine food from locally sourced produce; Rosehill is much more than just a theatre.
Rosehill presents four faces to the world:
Rosehill Theatre was founded by textile tycoon and arts patron Sir Nicholas Sekers. Designed by acclaimed stage, costume and film designer, Oliver Messel and with its trademark red silk interior recently restored to its original glory, now it provides local community and visitors with an intimate and atmospheric venue for performance art of all genres.
Rosehill’s latest venture is The Green Room restaurant. With local food hero and executive head chef Jon Fell in charge and in partnership with West Lakes College, the Green Room is building a reputation for excellent quality meals with a fine sea view.
Rosehill On The Road takes performance art to the community by staging events of all types in venues around the area – schools, village halls, function rooms, indoors and out – you’re never far from a Rosehill On The Road production.
Rosehill Taking Part promotes participation in the performance arts. Working with schools and community groups, its initiatives include theatre, opera, music, decorative arts and song and are hosted both at Rosehill and at other venues.
At Moresby on the hill above Whitehaven, Rosehill will surprise you. Make a trip to us soon.
