Over the Early May Bank Holiday weekend, there will be concerts, a sax workshop, a tea dance, and more at Carlisle Cathedral.
The weekend begins on Friday 2 May, with an opening night concert, as Tommaso Starace (sax), Martin Longhawn (Hammond organ), and Steve Hanley (drums) are welcomed to the Fratry Hall stage for an evening of classic jazz tunes.
On Saturday, Tommaso returns for a one-off saxophone workshop, and they switch up a gear on Saturday night with Dom Pipkin’s boogie-woogie piano concert.
On Sunday morning the weekly Sung Eucharist at 10.30am will include Bob Chilcott’s Jazz Mass, sung by the Cathedral’s Girl Choristers, and Sunday afternoon sees Manchester’s Out of the Blue Jazz Orchestra playing tunes from the roaring 20s to the swinging 60s at an Afternoon Tea Dance – book for Afternoon Tea or just go along to enjoy the tunes (and take to the dancefloor).
The weekend concludes on Bank Holiday Monday (5 May) with The Big Shoes Band’s Jazz Jam, back in Carlisle for one day only!
