The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is situated on the western edge of the Lake District, offering a unique combination of coastal beauty, rugged fells, and rich heritage. Ravenglass is the only village in the Lake District National Park that meets the sea. It lies within two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Lake District National Park and the Frontiers of the Roman Empire, thanks to its historic Roman Bath House, one of the best-preserved in Britain.
Eskdale is a beautiful valley stretching inland from Ravenglass. It is known for its dramatic scenery, peaceful countryside, and outdoor adventures. It’s a haven for walkers, with trails leading to Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England, as well as gentler riverside and woodland walks.
