Caldhu Cottage is a beautiful, recently renovated, traditional stone-fronted cottage located in the Western Lakes and providing easy access to Wasdale, Scafell Pike and Eskdale.

The cottage is set in 2 acres of private grounds including a wildflower meadow, woodland, 2 ponds and a small orchard. The cottage offers three double bedrooms (1 King, 1 Double and 2 Single beds) and can accommodate up to 6, plus one well behaved dog. It has a luxury bathroom with free standing bath and shower, a large lounge with oak floors and wood burning stove, fully fitted kitchen with range cooker, a beautiful dining room with limestone floor and open fire, a sun room, cloakroom/drying room and downstairs toilet.

Local Area

Just 15 minutes from Wastwater, Cumbria’s deepest lake, the location is perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Alternatively head for the hills for some of the best hikes the Lake District can offer including Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain and the iconic Great Gable. Both can be climbed from nearby Wasdale Head. The area is also a mecca for mountain biking with nearby rides suitable for all abilities. Drigg Beach and its sand dunes is only 3 miles from the cottage and its wide expanse of sand is perfect for energetic dogs. Ten minutes by car brings you to Muncaster Castle, famous for its Hawk & Owl Centre and nearby Ravensglass, home of the wonderful La’ll Ratty Steam Railway, which offers an 8 mile journey into the heart of Eskdale.
