Woolpack Inn

One of Cumbria’s most historic inns, we’ve been lovingly restoring and refurbishing the Woolpack Inn over a number of years to create a welcoming pub with a friendly and relaxed ambiance, filled with great ales and fine wine, home-cooked food, lots of laughter and a few surprises.
Set in a stunning location in Eskdale in the western Lake District National Park, we’re at the top of one of England’s most dramatic valleys and a welcome watering hole and place to calm down at the end of one of its most exciting roads – Hardknott Pass.

The Hardknott Bar & Kitchen offers a surprising contemporary space within the Woolpack, home to our frequent live music events and pub quizzes as well as our regular art exhibitions and offering fantastic pizzas from our woodfired ovens (also available to takeaway).
We offer the best of our area’s produce from our local food champions in our hearty meals, with a range of menus to suit everyone and a choice of places to sit, from quiet corners in the restaurant to the bustle and craic of the main bar areas.
Our bars present a great range of guest ales from Cumbria and Northern England’s excellent craft breweries and many artisan spirits made in the county too. Or if wine is your tipple, we’re the experts!

We take comfort seriously in our plushy B&B rooms, all recently refurbished with new bathrooms, or for a budget break there’s our new campsite right outside.
