I am a Blue Badge Tourist Guide qualified for Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Liverpool City Region. I live in Kirkby Londale in the southeast of Cumbria, but work across the county from east to west. I guide visitors on coaches and in chauffeur-driven vehicles and lead walking tours in the countryside and in towns and villages.
I am also a linguist, and am qualified to guide in German. The West Coast is particularly popular with German visitors, who love to escape from the busier areas, find the hidden gems, and “get under the skin” of wherever they are visiting – they have a fascination with “the country and the people”.
Blue Badge Guides act as ambassadors for the regions in which we are qualified, recommending local attractions, cafes, pubs, restaurants, accommodation etc. and encouraging repeat visits.
I am also a trainer, accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. Besides training tourist guides as various levels, I have run various courses for the heritage sector across the country e.g. Welcome Germany and training for volunteers in Tourist Information Centres
