St Luke’s church is open for Champing! You can now have the unique experience of spending a night inside a beautiful historic building. Why not spend a night or two in this small and beautiful Victorian church in West Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, sitting on a hillside at Chapel Brow overlooking the village of Bridgefoot and Little Clifton. What is Champing? Basically, it is camping, but in a Church – Champing! All the basics are provided – such as camp beds, crockery and a table and chairs. There is also a kitchenette and parking. Suitable for anyone from individuals to families – there is something for everyone! St Luke’s has plenty of history – the existing church dates from 1901, but there has been a church on this site since around 1080. Inside the church can be seen a Norse cross shaft, and some Norman architecture is still visible, whilst the beautiful Victorian stained glass windows really capture the light. |
