Whitehaven and District Amateur Operatic Society return to Rosehill with Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s classic musical Into The Woods.
In a whirlwind quest to make their dreams come true, beloved fairy tale characters collide. But for Cinderella, Jack, Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel, together with a childless backer and his wife, ‘Happily Ever After’ doesn’t turn out quite as they expect.
All the elements are there – a slipper as pure as gold, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, magic beans the curse of a wicked witch – but this is no common bedtime story. The familiar find themselves in very unfamiliar circumstances in this darkly comic tale.
Be careful what you wish for…
With music and lyrics by the late great Stephen Sondheim and a book by James Lapine, Into The Woods premiered on Broadway in 1987 and has received 10 Tony Awards, 6 Olivier Awards and a film adaption by Disney in 2014. Join WADAOS for an enthralling and ambitious production.
