The BEACON Museum in Whitehaven is celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with royal crafts, a display of memorabilia and a special portrait of the monarch.
The display of royal mementos includes the book signed by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh when she opened the Beacon Museum in June 2008.
There is also a special book that visitors can sign to congratulate the Queen on her Jubilee. This commemorative book will then be sent on to Buckingham Palace. Anyone can write a message in the book – it, and the display of memorabilia, are in the museum foyer and a ticket to the museum is not required. People can also see the plaque Her Majesty unveiled during the opening ceremony.
A painting of the Queen, part of the Beacon collection but not usually on display, is being brought out and displayed
