We’re delighted that award-winning singer Clare Teal is returning to Rosehill, accompanied by pianist Jason Rebello!
As much as she loves fronting her trio or big mini band, or singing with orchestras around the world, Clare – singer and former BBC Radio 2 presenter and a recent addition to the Jazz FM family – still revels in performing in more intimate venues accompanied by just piano.
From swing to sublime ballads, Clare’s duo concerts are renowned for their fabulous musicality coupled with her warm and witty storytelling, guaranteeing the audience something uniquely personal and always very special.
The rich, jazz-infused repertoire explores timeless classics penned by the legendary musical storytellers of the last 100 years, and celebrates giants of the Great American and British Songbooks through to the work of more contemporary writers crafting the standards of today plus Clare’s own original compositions.
Jason is a celebrated performer in his own right. Classically trained but inspired by Herbie Hancock, he was the first jazz musician to secure entry as a classical student at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was labelled a veteran by critics at 19 and over the next decade won most of the major jazz music awards.
His critically acclaimed solo albums mix jazz, latin, soul and hip hop, and he has worked with the likes of Tim Garland, Sting, Jeff Beck, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, Pee Wee Ellis, Joss Stone, Madeline Peyroux, and more.
He helped to set up the Jazz Factory at the Wiltshire Music Centre, and lectures at various schools and music colleges, including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Bath Spa University. Beyond jazz he has performed with the Nice Symphony Orchestra and the Hallé Orchestra.
